Social psychology for Relationships

The psychology of gender differences in relationships is a topic that has been disputed, reviewed, and caused a vast array of controversy all throughout the history of relationships. As research continues in this particular area of Behavioral Science, more and more evidence leans towards the fact that men and women are not from two different planets, but they do coincide in one world which consists of several differences. In some instances, differences can draw two people closer. In another instance, differences may drive people apart. The one element that determines what differences among your self and the opposite sex is whether you recognize them and learn as much as you can to accept them, or continuously fight them. Here, you will be introduced to the basic psychology of gender differences in relationships.

The Brain

The first aspect that I will cover relates to the brain. Based on scientific, psychiatric, physiological, and neurological studies, it has been concluded that the brain is different among genders. Sure, the same basic structure exists – that of the brain stem, and the cerebrum. In addition to this, the cerebellum is also the same. However, there are many differences that are not just psychological, but anatomically different as well. For example, it has been decided that the female brain has internal connections that are on the relatively larger side. Men, on the other hand, have a larger area of space between what is referred to as the “right” hemisphere, and the “left”. These differences can be seen.

Due to the fact that the women have the connections that are larger based, this enhances several abilities that makes this specific gender unique. It has been found that most women seem to have a natural knack and keen ability to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas. In addition to this, intuition is also enhanced in this particular gender. Men seem to have more complications with communicative interaction, yet they have the ability to reason things out in an abstract manner. If you were to examine the connections within the brain of a male, you would find that they are generally smaller than that of their female counterparts.

Now that we have an understanding of the fact that there are true to life evidential pieces that indicate that the brain from a woman is different than that of the male, it is time to highlight the basic abilities of the female, as well as the male, when it comes to the role of relationships. In order to understand the psychology of gender differences in relationships, I feel it is important to highlight each gender in their own category. By doing this, it allows you, as the reader, to do a cross comparison for your own studies in the subject. If you are in a troubled relationship, it will help you to overcome the challenges that you are facing.

The Female

When it comes to the psychology of gender differences, the female takes on a special role in the relationship. It has been found that the woman is typically more inclined towards effectively communicating with their partner. Language skills, the written word, and basic verbalization seem to flow quite easily for most women. This ability seems to tie right in to the fact that women tend to carry a higher sense of emotional intellect than men. When a female engages with her partner in the relationship, it is not uncommon for her to pick up on voice reflection, body language, and basic emotional connection. This is part of the reason that most females tend to carry an empathetic attitude that often exhibits emotion. Furthermore, the female is more likely to carry the ability to multitask and organization quickly and with little to no pre-planning.

There are other points that evidence determines to show that the psychology of differences in gender do play an impact on relationships. They are as follows:

• Women tend to carry a different set of values than that of men.

• Women are dynamic when it comes to social interaction with others.

• Women are able to withstand larger thresholds of men.

• Women tend to be very attentive when it comes to details.

• Women are more emotionally in-tune with themselves and others around them.

The Male

The male also plays an important role when it comes to the psychology of gender differences in relationships. Many professionals in the area of biology and Psychoneurobiological Science seem to believe that the male brain is practically made up of neurotransmitters, cells, hormones and more that lean towards a personality that “hunts”. A male may choose to hunt for a romantic encounter, a relationship, or personal satisfaction through the pursuit of work and interests. These individuals also carry a high aptitude when it comes to solving problems, dealing with mathematics, and even coping with problems that are technologically based.

The following describes other types of behaviors associated with the male gender:

• Men tend to focus on situations as whole pieces, rather than small interconnecting pieces.

• Men often display behaviors and reflect thoughts that reflect their need for independence.

• Men are often quite confident when it comes to their abilities, skills, and performances.

• Men often succumb to illness more frequently than women.

• Men often turn up to have a low level of emotional intellect, but a higher level of technical and basic intellect due to their ability to deal within reasons and abstracts.

The Facts

Now that I have covered some of the major aspects when it comes to the psychology of gender differences in relationships, it is time to close up with a simple little category that I like to call “The Facts”. There are unique differences between men and women. If you are in a troubled relationship, it is quite likely that you will discover that there are differences between you and your partner. Sure, many of these differences are simply a result of environmental and behavioral actions and reactions, but most are due to the distinct differences in which men and women have as a gender as far as their brain.
